The Village, Mansfield
Date: Saturday 27th July 2019
The Village boasts a warren of dark and foreboding rooms all of which are waiting for you to explore and uncover their dark and fearful secrets.
This location is fast becoming one of the UK’s favourite ghost hunting venues and when you look at the documented paranormal activity it’s easy to see why.
Full bodied apparitions have been captured during previous investigations inside The Village, as well as an old piano seemingly playing of it’s own accord.
The Village is a grade two listed building set in the heart of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Built in the 1800s as a malt house it subsequently went on to serve as a slaughterhouse.
After this it was left empty for many years until it was eventually turned into a popular night spot.
Left abandoned for over a decade, The Village plays host to a very sinister history indeed.
Reported Paranormal Activity;
The paranormal activity both witnessed and documented inside The Village is overwhelming.
Numerous investigators and guests have captured evidence of paranormal activity during their time inside this terrifying building. Some of which has made headline news.
It is reported that The Village is based on a site that once contained an old barn.
Under that barn was reportedly a tunnel which led to Newstead Abbey, located a few miles south of Mansfield.
Legend has it that the tunnel was used by the resident monks of the abbey to escape the English authorities during the Dissolution of the Monasteries period of the late 1530s.
The monks fled through the tunnels and sought refuge in the barn. Upon finding them, the authorities burned down the barn with the group still inside, killing all of them.
More recently, at the time of reopening, a group of volunteers painting inside the building reported seeing a full apparition of the houses former owner, Mr Merryweather who owned the houses up until his death in 1835.
The volunteers saw no sign of any intruders on CCTV and could not explain how another person could have entered the secured building.
The spirit of a distraught mother and her child thought to have been murdered at The Village are often picked up on here, as well as the sound of a baby crying.
