Castle Lodge, Ludlow
Date:Saturday 7th October 2017
The Castle Lodge, Ludlow, is said to be one of the towns most haunted buildings-and with a history dating back to the 12th century, it’s not hard to see why.
The building has seen many uses over the centuries, including a school, a prison and more recently a hotel.
This magnificent building is the former home of Catherine of Aragon, and it is said that she quite often likes to return.
Many visitors have been spooked during visits, including that of a gentlemen who fled from the former hotels attic, after being approached by a woman who then vanished into thin air.
This is your chance to spend the night, investigating this historic building and hopefully to find out who indeed still roams it’s ancient walls.
Castle Lodge is a medieval Tudor and Elizabethan architectural transition period house in Ludlow, Shropshire, situated close to Ludlow Castle. Scenes from the 1965 film version of Moll Flanders were shot here. Castle Lodge has some of the largest collection of oak panelling in England and dates from the early 13th century, rebuilt in 1580. In Tudor times it was the home of Elizabeth I’s Master of Requests and was once used as a prison.
Reported Paranormal Activity:
Visitors at Castle Lodge have reported the apparition of a 15 to 16 year old girl seemingly wearing Tudor costume who likes to walk the attic corridors as well as visit the nursery room. Cold drafts and the feeling of being watched have also been reported. Previous owners say that one adult male visitor was visiting the attic rooms which are open to the public and came rushing downstairs trembling saying he had just seen a young woman approach him and then disappear through a closed door. The spirit is believed to be that of Catherine of Aragon who has returned to the Castle Lodge to where she was once happy.
